Someone hacked my yahoo email. should i close it or change passwords?

i believe someone hacked my yahoo email. they changed some passwords on some other sites i used. nothing too harmful, yet. BUT, do you recommend me changing the password or opening a whole new account?

I would open a new account to be safe and attempt to lock the hacker out of my other account while I regain control. So essentially both. You don't know what method the hacker employed to gain access to your account. If they somehow were able to "brute force" it (a term meaning using a software program to crack a code by using a logical list of most common passwords then trying other logic such as 1,2,3,4 trying every combination of keys until the code is cracked. If they used this method then they can crack it again and again. If they answered one of your questions correctly or something then you need to somehow change your answer, or question, or if you can't do either I guess get a new account because I don't think there are many options left.

Reply:Change the password first to see if it works. If that does not help you to feel more comfortable, then cancel the account and open a new one.
Reply:new account with a hard password
