How can I receive an email stating that I changed my email password when I have not done so?

I recently received two emails stating that I had changed my email password when I had not done so. Can this just be a mistake that yahoo has made or has someone really changed my password?

if you choose to change passwords every 72 hours.maybe.F
Reply:well if your logging in under your old password than it is obviously not changed? but i got that on my myspace the other day where i tried logging in and it said "due to many failed attempts trying to log in to this account, please change password" And here it was someone trying to hack into my account. I would change it neways!
Reply:Sounds like someone is prompting you to try to enter your password on some form to "verify" it. Phishing! DO NOT take the link! It may take you to a screen that looks identical to the screen you expect, but IT'S NOT! Ignore the email! Trash it toot sweet.
Reply:Check access to your email using your existing password.

It could be that someone's cracked your password, if it was something really easy such as your pet's name. Or it could be a hoax email, maybe even a phishing email not actually from Yahoo.
Reply:I agree with the poster above. [tommy]

You should change your password immediately. Someone has probably been tampering with your e-mail.

[Make sure you don't use any 'common' or easy to guess passwords]
Reply:Someone probably did that, not you, just change your password, and make it difficult.
