Have your parents ever asked you for any of your passwords for email, Myspace, etc?

I'm 18, and my mom actually had the nerve to ask me what my email password was. I'm all like "no," and she kept asking me at least 10 more times until I finally got her to back off. I think it's because I like to have my privacy on the computer, and I don't let anyone look at what I'm doing online. I'm not doing anything wrong--and I'm serious about that--, but my mom doesn't believe me. I'm just really sensitive about my privacy, including at school or the library.

Have your parents done something like this?

VIVA LA RAZA!

Have your parents ever asked you for any of your passwords for email, Myspace, etc?
She's your mom, dude. She has the right to do anything she wants as long as you're living under her roof.

Yes she asked me if she could check my mail. My mail was open when she walked by, so she kinda acted before she asked.

I don't have MySpace. I have my reasons for that.
Reply:Yes to MySpace.... and i had people added form my family so they can see what im doin i had to deleted but i created another one... and they want the password to my phone so they can see all my texts and im like no.. ughhhh they always think i be doing stuff but i don't ugh that's why don't want get a face book because they can find me....
Reply:i'm the mom.

it's my computer. i paid for it. it's in my home that i pay for and take care of.

no one gets on my computer without my getting them on. period.

i have all rights.

until you (or my children - grown or not) get your own home and pay your own bills and purchase your own computer you have no privacy.
Reply:If you still live with your mom then she has the right to ask. If you don't like her asking move out, pay for your own place and your own internet. Then if she asks you have the right to say no. But under her house it is her rules and you have what ever privacy she allows you to have.
Reply:uu...no...they have never done that. They're actually like a lot into privacy. Like even when my dad gets letters and and stuff...she doesn't open them, she calls my dad first...and asks him if its alright. But she does warns us about you online stuff. And she once sent me this email about people from facebook selling info to others...but you know she really trusts us. And I would hate it for her to see my mail...or just even my y!a account thingy...
Reply:YES! My mom went through my contacts, accusing all my guy friends of being my boyfriends, and everything else. My parents went through my facebook too, and my mom almost went through my questions on here and my book of poems/writing.

Ugh. Nosy.
Reply:My mom used to have my myspace password.

But I made a whole new one a few months later because I hated my URL. My mom never got the new password.

If you are 18 she shouldn't be asking. You are an adult and what is said through your email is YOUR business.
Reply:ya, its not a big deal. if your that protective of your privacy, explain how you feel to her instead of just saying "no, back off". that way she will leave you alone and most likely wont suspect your doing anything worth "investigating".
Reply:If my parents wanted my password, it would be weird because I'm 20 years old.

But, if I were a teenager again and they wanted my passwords, I'd give it to them. I don't have anything to hide.
Reply:Yup I am 18 and have a baby on the way my dad still has my myspace password. I don't care I don't have anything to hide.
Reply:If you don't like your mom doing that why don't you go to Apple and buy your own computer.
Reply:if they asked, they wouldnt ever get an answer...i dont let ANY1 even TOUCH my computer!!..same as u,even when im not doing anything wrong....its mine, its private!
Reply:My parents never asked me for mine

VIVA LA RAZA!

Reply:Nope,no such thing has ever happened.
Reply:hahaha yeah, i told my mom no and she was like whatever and walked away. lol

:)
Reply:yep but i change everything once i give it to them so they cant check it
Reply:Yea i hate it, they do it often!
Reply:I think they actually have all my passwords.....but I change them....don't tell
Reply:no

Reply:It is perfectly natural for your mother to be suspicious of mexicans.
